Coblation Assisted Tonsillectomy

CAT is a new technique for performing Tonsillectomy. Our practice (Dr. Walner) has been using this technique since April 2003. The procedure uses radiofrequency energy in a field mixed with salt-water solution to separate tissues at a much lower temperature as compared to electrocautery techniques and with much less bleeding than with cold techniques. It appears that patients heal much more quickly with less pain and can resume a normal diet and normal activity much more quickly. See for more information.
